►Kindergarten, Korça, South Eastern Albania

Real Aid provided funds
to refurbish a building in the town of Korça to be used as a kindergarten. Thus
providing 120 small children of the town with a safe area to learn and play.
Until this kindergarten opened the children of this town and district had no
access to such a facility, due to Korça being situated in a very isolated and
impoverished part of the country, receiving little assistance from central
government.
During the latter part of
2005 the first kindergarten was complete. The funds secured enabled the
building to be completely refurbished, with the interior being re-wired,
plastered and painted, and new toilets and play areas inside and out. A
truckload of toys, teaching and learning materials were delivered in order for
the kindergarten to be opened early 2006.
In 2008, through the hard
work of local ‘in country’ staff and the generosity of UK businesses Real Aid
has refurbished and opened a second Kindergarten in Korça to accommodate the
volume of children requiring such facilities.
We hope to establish a
new Children’s Day Centre in Korça during 2008
