FUNdraising Campaign July 2009 During July 2009 Real Aid volunteers will ‘Smile for a Child’ and hope that the public, schools and a variety of business and organisations will join us. We invite everyone to choose their own fundraising activity, have a little fun and raise much needed funds at the same time. This year’s funds will be used to re-build and supply resources to a village school in Hamilton, Sierra Leone. Chief Executive Officer, Barbara Raine visited this village earlier in the year to distribute Christmas Gift Boxes kindly donated from schools, the public and various organisations throughout East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull. Barbara saw for herself how this community would benefit from the support of Real Aid ‘the children are so keen to learn but basic educational items are very limited and the school building is very small and is in need of repair’. By improving the school and providing basics will increase the learning opportunities for these children and many more in the village that are currently unable to attend the school.
